POSITION SUMMARY CHEO, The Royal, Youth Services Bureau and Le CAP are partnering to develop a community based live-in treatment unit to address the needs of youth and their families who are experiencing complex and persistent mental health and psychosocial issues. The Step Up Step Down Program will offer interdisciplinary live-in care in a community setting with the goal of averting hospital admissions, facilitating shorter hospital inpatient stays or preventing placement breakdown. The goal of the program is to address the existing gap in recovery focused live-in treatment services for youth 12-17 years. The Psychologist will be part of the interdisciplinary and interagency team. JOB DESCRIPTION Provide clinical consultation to the interdisciplinary team for the purpose of individual treatment planning and delivery and milieu planning Support in the delivery of mental health care delivered by the interdisciplinary team Provide comprehensive psychological assessment, with a focus on diagnostic formulation as well as short term interventions. Provide psychological treatment (individual and group) using evidence-based approaches Assist interdisciplinary team with decision making regarding risk management for youth with internalizing and externalizing mental health issues Liaise with community psychologists and other health care professionals Provide supervision/training to pre-doctoral psychology interns and offer learning opportunities to other student professionals in training. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings. Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining clinical documentation, progress notes, workload statistics and updating health records in accordance with established standards. Coverage for Clinical Director as needed Participate in and support clinical research activities with the inter-professional team members. QUALIFICATIONS Vulnerable Sector Check Essential) Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited clinical psychology program(Essential) Registration as a Psychologist in Ontario or eligibility for registration(Essential) Designated practice as a Psychologist in the area of Clinical Psychology with adolescents (Essential) Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the assessment of children presenting severe and complex mental health problems (Essential) Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the area of adolescent risk assessment and management (risk of self-harm, harm to other, elopement) (Essential) Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) (Essential) Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Trauma focused CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion focused Therapy or attachment focused therapies (Preferred) Demonstrated experience and knowledge in family therapy (Preferredl) Experience in Group Facilitation (Preferred) At least 2 years of experience in a pediatric medical or community mental health setting (Essential) Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team(Essential) Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals (Essential) Bilingual – Fluency in both French and English (Preferred) Supervision experience (Preferred) *Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU).
