Job Description

You’ll have the opportunity to grow capabilities and accelerate your development through our Indigenous Student Internship program, open to Indigenous post-secondary students across Canada. We are Canada's largest independent information technology services firm, and after 40 years, we're still growing! We have a challenging career opportunity for a Jr. Full Stack Developer ideally with AI Skills.

We are looking for a Junior Full-Stack Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications. You will work across both front-end and back-end systems, collaborating with designers, product owners, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions.

You will be part of a team creating new services and applications using the latest technologies.

We are looking for individuals who are interested in building a long-term career at CGI as there is a potential to join us permanently after the completion of your internship, depending on opportunities available.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • The Junior Full Stack Java Developer with AI position offers an exciting opportunity for entry-level developers to dive into the world of full-stack development using Java technologies.
  • Working closely with experienced developers and project teams, you'll have the chance to learn and grow your skills in AI, Java programming, web development, and database management.
  • Whether it's crafting user-friendly interfaces or optimizing database performance, you'll contribute to delivering high-quality solutions for CGI's clients.
  • This role is ideal for passionate individuals eager to kickstart their careers in software development within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

  • Java development experience writing Java Code, REST APIs or Micro Services.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of React, Java 8, REST API/Micro services, Spring Framework (MVC, Security, JPA, Boot) Maven, SQL
  • Experience/Knowledge in at least one front-end framework (e.g., React, Angular)
  • Experience/Knowledge with back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Java, .NET, Python)
  • Knowledge of SQL databases
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
  • Understanding and learning of software development best practices and design patterns
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

To be eligible you must self-identify as an Indigenous Person (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis)

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary program in Canada
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • For select roles, the ability to be granted an Enhanced level security clearance is a requirement

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $18-32/hour. This role is an existing vacancy.
