THE ROLE
As a Restaurant and Mess Manager (Private Clubs), you provide an excellent customer experience in our military messes. During big events to every day moments, you will build a rapport with the military community while utilizing your operational and hospitality experience. Military messes are places where Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members come together to socialize and foster morale.
The Restaurant and Mess Manager (Private Clubs) will ensure smooth operation of the messes’ activities and operations, including bar operations and food services, while adhering to strict requirements for health, hygiene and safety. You will manage the scheduling, training and performance of employees. You will develop operations budgets, business plans and monitor and report on all expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
College diploma or certificate in hospitality, food service management, or a related field AND some years of experience in hospitality or food and beverage service sector
Provincial Responsible Service of Alcohol certification, as required
Experience
In coordinating hospitality services including bar operations
In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation
In coordinating banquets and functions
In inventory and bar management
In negotiating service contracts
In preparing marketing strategies
In managing facilities
In budget administration
In managing a full service kitchen
In personnel administration
In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail, and Internet browsing
Competencies
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

OTHER INFORMATION
This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.
PSP: Keep our Canadian Armed Forces operationally ready and their families and military community healthy as part of the team at Personnel Support Programs. Personnel Support Programs contributes to the operational readiness of our Canadian Armed Forces through the provision of fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs to military communities across Canada and members while on deployment.
CAF Messes: Offer expertise in management, operational and hospitality services as part of the team that oversees military messes throughout Canada and the world. The military mess is the centre of social life for serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, where customs, responsibilities and social standards are practiced. Messes are steeped in rich military heritage and tradition. The mess includes food as a central component of events and camaraderie. Personnel Support Program (PSP) Hospitality Services and management are pinnacle to their success.
