Job Description

Key Responsibilities

System Administration & Operations

  • Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers in on‑premises and cloud environments.
  • Perform routine system monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning.
  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade servers, operating systems, and associated software.
  • Provide Tier 1–3 technical support and troubleshoot system and infrastructure issues.

Cloud & Identity Management

  • Support Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Administer Active Directory / Entra ID, including:
  • User and group management
  • Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA)
  • Conditional Access policies
  • Assist with access reviews, account provisioning, and de‑provisioning to ensure least‑privilege access.

Security & Federal Compliance

  • Apply NIST security controls and support FISMA compliance activities.
  • Implement system hardening and STIG baseline configurations.
  • Perform patch management, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint protection support.
  • Assist with compliance documentation, audits, and security assessments

Backup, Recovery & Documentation

  • Execute backups and verify data integrity and recovery capabilities.
  • Support disaster recovery and continuity of operations activities.
  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and configuration records.
  • Escalate risks, outages, and compliance issues to senior engineers or system owners as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal government agencies.
  • Knowledge of Cisco networking, firewalls, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting or automation tools.
  • Relevant certifications (desired but not required):
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Active Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–6+ years of experience in system administration or IT operations.
  • Hands‑on experience with:
  • Windows Server and Linux administration
  • Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
  • Active Directory / Entra ID
  • Virtualisation platforms (VMware or equivalent)
