Key Tasks

• Develop and maintain a network of provincial contacts and experts to comment on issues and events.
• Generate and execute journalism that elevates a range of voices and perspectives.
• Go live when the story demands it on video, audio, and text.
• Produce original content and respond to emerging and ongoing stories.
• Respond to breaking news.
• Write scripts and file stories ranging from daily news to longer‑form pieces and features for digital and broadcast platforms.
• Translate complex legal, policy, and budget documents for a general audience across multiple platforms.
• Research, gather, and analyze complex issues from specialized sources to enhance CBC audiences’ understanding.
• Work collaboratively with local and network newsrooms.
• Recognize issues of importance quickly and take effective action to ensure appropriate coverage.

Your Profile

• Proven experience in journalism and knowledge of the media industry.
• Excellent understanding of Western Canadian business and economic news.
• 7 years of comparable, relevant experience preferred.
• Exceptional reporting, memorable writing, and digital storytelling.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a standout colleague.
• Ability to work with a variety of teams.
• Proven ability to work in high‑stress, tight‑deadline environments.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
• University degree in journalism or equivalent preferred.
