Engineer III Controls
Primary Responsibilities for the Engineer III:
- Design and Development:
- Identify and understand the company’s needs related to control systems.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement solutions to enhance control system efficiency.
- Technical Support and Mentorship:
- Provide technical support to team members.
- Work with maintenance to remedy breakdowns.
- System Configuration and Optimization:
- Configure, standardize, and optimize control systems for equipment and processes.
- Define system requirements and participate in system configuration.
- Act as a liaison between end-users and system developers/OEM’s.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Project Management:
- Develop and execute projects from start to finish, ensuring successful implementation.
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of control systems.
- Manage project costs, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop business cases where automation and control upgrades can improve the thru-put and costs for a given work center or process.
Required for the Engineer III:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years working in the controls and automation industry.
Preferred for the Engineer III:
- Experience in the steel automation industry.
- Problem-solving.
- Familiarity with engineering-related software.
- Knowledge of lean principles.
- Knowledge of PLC Programming. Familiarity with Rockwell and Siemens controllers.
- HMI development is required. Familiarity with Aveva InTouch.
- AC and DC drive knowledge.
- Expertise with EtherNet/IP, Industrial Ethernet and Profibus Networks (CAN) is valuable.
- Knowledge of automated equipment systems, robotics, and material handling is.
