Job Description
Opportunity Overview Handshake is looking for experienced renewable energy and environmental markets professionals to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job — you'll draw on your hands-on expertise in renewable generation analysis, forecasting, and REC markets to produce expert-level data and analytical outputs that help build AI training environments for the energy industry. This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current work. What You'll Do
- Apply your professional expertise to independently produce real analytical work outputs — such as renewable generation performance reports, forecast models, and REC verification documentation — in a structured, project-based format
- Use tools like WREGIS and AVEVA PI to complete tasks the way you would in your day-to-day role
- Deliver expert-level work that forms the foundation of AI training datasets for energy industry applications
- Complete tasks at your own pace with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in renewable energy generation, forecasting, or environmental markets, in a role such as Renewable Generation Performance Analyst, Renewable Asset Forecasting Analyst, or REC / Environmental Markets Analyst
- Ability to independently produce work using WREGIS or AVEVA PI
- Hands-on experience with workflows such as renewable generation forecasting and performance reporting, and REC verification and retirement
- Bachelor's degree or higher required
- Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment Application Process

- Duration The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with projects opening periodically across different areas of expertise. Placement depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available Work Authorization Must be currently residing in the United States. F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible for projects on Handshake AI. Work with your Designated School Official to determine your eligibility. If your school requires a CPT course, Handshake AI may not meet your school's requirements. STEM OPT is not supported.
