Marriott International, Inc: Senior Network Engineer – Site Reliability Engineering– Bethesda, MD,
DUTIES
- Design and implement the network configuration, security and monitoring strategy and platforms for the next-gen operations for all Marriott International (MI) networks including the Property Networks, Datacenter/Cloud Networks,and Corporate Networks.
- Work with architecture, engineering, operational, and application experts to set standards and architecture for all aspects of the network.
- Provide engineering expertise in support of Marriott’s network configuration, security, and monitoring infrastructure.
- Engineer network solution designs enabling stability, consolidation, manageability, and advances in future technologies.
- Provide guidance to modify and maintain existing Marriott network architecture, completion of project requests, oversee lifecycle management, capacity, health and performance management, continuous service improvement, business and technical analyses, reporting, and project management.
- Provide architecture and design support for Marriott’s campus, property, data center, and above campus hybrid cloud infrastructure including network security, remote access, wireless, LAN, WAN, and load balancing.
- Work efficiently with our technology providers as well as other third-party engineering, application, and operations teams.
- Be a proponent and champion of designing and implementing automation strategies using industry standard solutions and languages such as Ansible, Python accessing native or REST APIs.
- Provide oversight, governance, and strategic direction related to the network infrastructure services that are required to enable the delivery of IT services to Marriott’s campus, data center, and property networks.
- Provide input to the overall architecture, operational governance model
- Lead and/or participate in researching and designing components that are standards based, high performing, highly available, and secure in delivering the required business functionality
- Educate internal and external users on the technologies to continually improve the knowledge and skill-base of the organization on how to operate and support the technology services
- Participate in and/or lead the evaluation and selection of service products
- Support analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement
- Utilize capability modeling to align systems strategy and planning with business strategy and goals
- Consult with project teams to identify when it is necessary to modify services to accommodate project needs
- Support, implement, and promote standard configuration and change management, processes and practices
- Develop and document test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for assigned projects
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or
related technical field followed by 7 years of progressively responsible experience with Network Security Engineering.
Experience must include:
- 7 years of experience with TACACS+ and RADIUS protocols
- 7 years of experience designing and implementing policies in the zero trust security tools
- 7 years of experience with wireshark/tcpdump/nmap and related analysis techniques
- 7 years of experience developing, documenting, and managing the requirements gathering process and provide detailed design and implementation plan to support the requirements throughout the project life cycle
- 7 years of experience with foundational data networking and IP technologies including ARP, TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP,DNS, NAT and others
- 7 years of experience installing, managing, troubleshooting and administration of firewall management solutions (Firemon, Palo Alto Panorama, Checkpoint MDS, and/or Aruba ClearPass)
- 6 years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting of zero trust security tools (Cisco ISE or other network admission tools)
- 6 years of experience with common routing and switching platforms (Cisco, Juniper, and/or HP/Aruba)
- 6 years of experience with network security tools related products
- 5 years of experience with one or more Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Compute Engine)
- 6 months of experience with Agile methodologies, daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning sessions and user story preparations
Telework: 100% Remote; Position may be performed from anywhere within the U.S.
Travel: Up to 10% domestic travel
SALARY: $130,900-$171,700 per year per year
