Fitness Facility Attendant

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Fitness Facility Attendant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members and guests. Your primary duties will include assisting clients, ensuring equipment safety, and providing excellent customer service. possesses strong communication skills, and demonstrates leadership qualities to foster a positive fitness experience for all visitors.

Responsibilities

• Greet members and guests warmly upon arrival, providing exceptional customer service.
• Monitor the fitness area to ensure safety protocols are followed and equipment is used properly.
• Assist clients with equipment setup, usage instructions, and basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain cleanliness of the facility, including gym equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
• Enforce facility rules and policies to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
• Provide guidance or basic instruction on fitness routines when appropriate.
• Manage member check-ins and assist with membership inquiries or concerns.
• Open and close the facility, including activating/deactivating lighting and audio systems
• Perform daily cleanliness checks, including washrooms, windows, mirrors, and floor surfaces
• Sweep, mop, and sanitize fitness areas; ensure equipment is clean and safe for use
• Check and restock paper towel dispensers and cleaning spray bottles as needed
• Operate the cash register and handle point-of-sale transactions
• Sell memberships and accurately record all sales
• Monitor facility access—ensure CBU students present valid ID for entry
• Maintain a safe and organized environment; report any irregularities or damaged equipment
• Secure the facility at closing, including turning off audio and locking all doors

Requirements

• Prior experience in a fitness, recreation, or customer service role
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong attention to detail and reliability
• Ability to work independently and maintain a clean, organized workspace
• Familiarity with fitness equipment is an asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions:

• Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• The role requires light lifting (up to 50 lbs)
