Full Job Description – Sonographer - Specializes in MSK
DESCRIPTION: The Canadian Diagnostic Network (CDN) is Ottawa's trusted Radiology & Imaging services. Our focus centers on the patient and their family as we strive to meet their healthcare needs with personal attention and respect. Under the supervision of the Director(s) and Operations Coordinator(s), the sonographer will be responsible for ultrasound scanning of patients in the imaging center.

We are seeking a skilled sonographer with experience in MSK to join our new clinic in East Ottawa in an orthopedic setting.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a recognized course in diagnostic ultrasound.
- Be an active member of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
- Possess liability insurance.
- Experience in MSK ultrasound or willing to acquire certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in English, spoken and written. French is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and courteously with all types of people.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ABILITIES (representative but not all inclusive):
- Solid, professional interpersonal communication skills with patients, other staff, referring and reporting physician.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Must be able to work efficiently and independently.
- Ensure the proper functioning of the instruments and technical equipment. Ensure its maintenance and that the examination room is well maintained and supplied.
- Use the PACS systems to manipulate data and images following examinations and complete all necessary documentation for each patient.
- Must be able to recognize all structures on the ultrasound monitor, determine the anatomy as normal or abnormal.
- Responsible for performing testing and maintaining all records required for the quality assurance program.
- Adhere to infection control policies.
- Perform duties to maintain cleanliness of facility.
- Remain compliant with continuing education requirements of CMRITO.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Required to scan and/or sit for long periods of time.
- Assist patients on to, and around, exam bed.
- Move and/or transport any equipment as necessary.
