Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Windows & VMware Administration
- Administer and support enterprise Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019/2022) across Development, Test, UAT, and Production.
- Manage VMware infrastructure including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, clusters, resource pools, HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion.
- Perform end to end VM lifecycle management: provisioning, resizing, migrations, snapshot management, and decommissioning.
- Execute OS hardening and security configurations in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Plan and perform Windows OS patching and VMware host patching/upgrades with proper change and rollback planning.
- Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory services including AD objects, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and authentication issues.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; proactively identify and remediate infrastructure risks.
- Handle incident, problem, change, and service request management using ServiceNow, following ITIL processes.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for major and recurring incidents.
- Support backup and recovery operations (e.g., Veeam, NetBackup) including restores and DR testing.
- Participate in DR planning, DR drills, failover and failback activities.
- Work closely with network, storage, security, and application teams to resolve cross platform issues.
- Maintain monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., SCOM, vRealize, SolarWinds) and respond to alerts.
- Ensure compliance with audit, access control, and security requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including runbooks, SOPs, KT documents, and architecture diagrams using Confluence.
- Actively participate in knowledge transition (KT) and transition support activities.
- Provide on call and after hours support as part of a rotational support model.

Automation Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
- Automate routine activities such as server builds, patching, health checks, monitoring, and reporting.
- Use scripting and automation tools such as:
o PowerShell (mandatory)
o Ansible / Python / VMware PowerCLI (preferred)
- Identify repetitive operational tasks and drive continuous improvement through automation.

Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory
- 5–8 years of experience in Windows Server administration.
- Strong hands on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
- PowerShell scripting experience for automation and administration.
- Hands on experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
- Experience using ServiceNow for incident, problem, change, and request management.
- Strong experience in documentation using Confluence.
- Good understanding of ITIL processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred / Good to Have
- Experience with Ansible, Python, VMware PowerCLI.
- Exposure to monitoring tools (SCOM, vRealize, SolarWinds).
- Experience with backup and DR solutions.
- Basic understanding of networking and storage concepts.
- Experience in BFSI or other regulated environments.
- Prior experience in transition / KT heavy engagements.
