Cisco Network Engineer — Global Infrastructure & Cloud Migration (Contract / Bench Resource)
Remote (Americas time zones) | Contract / project-based | $100–$120 CAD/hour, based on experience
About Us
BrydonGama is a Toronto-based IT recruiting and staffing firm, connecting organizations with high-caliber technology and business talent. We are recruiting this role on behalf of a leading offshore digital transformation and cloud solutions provider, serving enterprise clients across the Caribbean, Latin America, and North America.
Our client is a Microsoft Gold Partner and SOC 2 certified organization, recognized multiple times as a regional Microsoft Partner of the Year, with a project delivery team spanning several countries. They build and manage secure, cloud-first infrastructure for partners and enterprise tenants, and are growing their bench of specialist consultants to support network engineering engagements as new projects are won.
The Role
Our client is looking for a Cisco-focused Network Engineer to join their bench of specialist resources, supporting the architecture, deployment, and scaling of resilient network infrastructure across global data centers and multiple cloud providers. You'll work on hybrid environments that span on-premises data centers and cloud platforms, with a strong emphasis on automation, standardization, and operational reliability.
This is a flexible, engagement-based contract role — hours per week are fractional and vary by project, with scheduling flexibility offered based on your availability. You'll partner closely with DevOps teams and occasionally provide out-of-hours support as part of a rotational on-call schedule.
What You'll Do
- Architect, deploy, and scale resilient network infrastructure across global data centers and multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP).
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and operations pipelines for on-premises networks using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
- Deliver solutions that enhance network performance, security, and scalability, including segmentation, QoS, and SD-WAN design.
- Collaborate on and execute seamless migrations from on-premises to cloud environments, including hybrid connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect, transit gateways).
- Maintain uptime, performance, and capacity standards across hybrid networking environments, using monitoring tools such as Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Prime, or Splunk.
- Drive efficiency through automation and standardized deployment processes, including Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD pipelines for network changes.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, procedures, and policies for network architecture and operations.
- Partner closely with DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployments and rapid issue resolution.
- Occasionally provide out-of-hours support as part of a rotational on-call schedule.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of enterprise network engineering experience, with strong hands-on Cisco routing and switching skills — this is the core requirement.
- CCNP-level certification (or equivalent hands-on experience) required; CCIE a strong asset.
- Multi-cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP — VPC/VNet design, transit gateways, and site-to-site connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect).
- Network automation skills: Python, Ansible, and/or Terraform, with familiarity with NETCONF/RESTCONF and Git-based workflows.
- SD-WAN experience (e.g., Cisco Viptela, Meraki, or similar platforms).
- Experience with Cisco ACI/Nexus data center environments; familiarity with Cisco DNA Center is an asset.
- Comfortable partnering with DevOps teams and working within CI/CD-driven deployment processes.
- Strong documentation habits and the ability to write clear procedures and policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours or rotational on-call work.
- Comfortable working across variable engagement schedules and fractional hours per week, scaling up or down as project needs shift.
Engagement Details
- Structure: Contract / bench consultant — deployed to specific client engagements as they arise; fractional hours per week, not a fixed 40-hour commitment.
- Pay rate: $100–$120 CAD/hour depending on experience; consultants with deeper Cisco and multi-cloud automation experience typically land at the top of the range.
- Location: Remote, with occasional on-site presence depending on the specific project.
- On-call: Periodic out-of-hours support required as part of a rotational schedule.
- This posting is for an existing bench need — engagement start dates depend on client project timing.
- We are an equal opportunity employer.
Pay: $100.00-$120.00 per hour
Work Location: Remote
