BRIC-Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, has released Advertisement No. 23/2026 for 5 Scientist posts across three levels: Scientist-B, Scientist-C and Scientist-D. ILS wants early and mid-career scientists to lead independent research programmes in areas like Cancer immunotherapy, Clinical genomics, Gene therapy, Proteomics, Vaccine development and Smart cereal crops. Only Indian citizens are eligible, and selected scientists get independent laboratory space and startup research support to build their own research programme. The probation period for all three posts is 2 years, and ILS strives for a gender-balanced, all-India workforce — women candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Scientist-D (Level-12, up to 45 years):

• You need a 1st Class M.Sc. or equivalent degree with at least 9 years of research experience.
• A Ph.D. with at least 5 years of research experience and a strong publication record is desirable.

For Scientist-C (Level-11, up to 40 years):

• You need a 1st Class M.Sc. or equivalent degree with at least 5 years of research experience.
• A Ph.D. with at least 3 years of research experience and a strong publication record is desirable.

For Scientist-B (Level-10, up to 35 years):

• You need a 1st Class M.Sc. or equivalent degree with at least 3 years of research experience.
• A Ph.D. with at least 1 year of research experience and a strong publication record is desirable.

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for all three posts. Degrees must be from a UGC/AICTE/AIU recognized Institute/University.

Age Limit

• Scientist-D: up to 45 years as on the closing date of application.
• Scientist-C: up to 40 years as on the closing date of application.
• Scientist-B: up to 35 years as on the closing date of application.
• Age Relaxation: As per BRIC Rules and Regulations. Relaxation in age, qualification and/or experience is considered for candidates already holding analogous positions in Government Scientific Organisations/Research Institutions.

Salary

• Scientist-D: Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month (Pay Level 12, 7th CPC).
• Scientist-C: Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month (Pay Level 11, 7th CPC).
• Scientist-B: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month (Pay Level 10, 7th CPC).
• You will also get DA and other allowances as per government rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

• Screening of Applications: Based on your qualifications, research experience and quality of publications/patents.
• Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview/assessment by the Screening and Selection Committee.
• Document Verification: Selected candidates must produce original documents for category, qualification and experience claims.

Good to Know

• If you already work in Central/State Government, a PSU or an autonomous body, apply through the proper channel. If that is not possible, send an advance copy of your application and get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer before the interview.
• Your online application is final once submitted — no changes or modifications are allowed afterwards.
• Meeting the eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee an interview call. Final shortlisting depends on the quality of your research experience and publications.
• Any dispute related to this recruitment falls under the jurisdiction of courts in Bhubaneswar/Cuttack only.
• You are not eligible if you were previously dismissed or compulsorily retired from Government/PSU service, or convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude.
