Perform regular flight duties as Flight Test Engineer on production aircraft. Be responsible for test planning and readiness, safety of flight and test operations of production and experimental aircraft. Operate under the authority/supervision of the Manager of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot. As an engineering specialist, work with the Flight Test Engineering team to support aircraft operational information critical to tests (test limitations, Restrictions and/or Special Instructions (RSIs) and test procedures or direction). Be assigned responsibility for vetting and approving Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs) and RSIs. Communicate with Systems Engineering, Methods Engineering, Flight Sciences and Pre-Flight on the planning, status and results of tests performed on an aircraft (hangar, ground and/or in flight). Create test documentation and reporting consistent with approved Bombardier Flight Test Center standards. Oversee and confirm aircraft configuration is appropriate and/or applicable for test (component level, test instrumentation, etc.). Coordinate, chair and facilitate reviews/briefings of Test Readiness; SOF (Safety Of Flight); THA (Test Hazard Analysis); pre- and post-flight briefings. Prepare/write Test Cards/Plans based on TDS (Test Definition Sheets). Observe company, FAA and Transport Canada rules and regulations for test; proper use of safety and risk mitigation methods; and test equipment operating procedures. Work closely with the Bombardier Flight Test Center - Wichita, Laurent Beaudoin Completion Center (LBCC) - Montreal and other third-party Completion Centers. Perform other related duties as assigned. How to thrive in this role? A Bachelor of Engineering Degree (P. Eng.). Three to five (3–5) years of experience in aerospace engineering including flight test engineering. A Masters in Engineering/Aviation and/or graduation from a Test Pilot School would be an asset. An understanding of civil/commercial aircraft certification Part 25 requirements. An understanding of aircraft systems and their operation and an ability to interpret aircraft systems schematics. A Private or Commercial Pilot's License is an asset. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project & Access). Self-motivated with good communication, planning and organizational skills. Ability to travel to remote locations to test for short (1 week) and extended (several weeks) periods and a valid passport. Good problem-solving skills. The base salary for this position is expected to range from CAD $64,300 to CAD $101,100 per year. The applicable base salary will be determined based on various criteria, at Bombardier's sole discretion, such as the candidate's skills, experience and qualifications.
