BlueScope Recycling is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler with processing facilities in Waterloo, IN, Delta, OH, and Mansfield, OH. BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service.
Summary: The Maintenance Technician II performs a wide range of maintenance and repair activities under moderate supervision. This role is considered fully proficient within a specific technical discipline and is responsible for maintaining and servicing plant equipment and mobile equipment within the scrap yard to support safe and efficient operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on plant and mobile equipment.
Conduct periodic inspections to identify wear, damage, and replacement needs; ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Utilize technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to troubleshoot, diagnose, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including but not limited to loaders, shears, grapples, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailers, shredders, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
Perform welding, grinding, torching, and weld setup as required.
Safely set up and disassemble machinery and equipment.
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments regarding equipment status and repair needs.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1–3 years of related maintenance experience (industrial or mobile equipment preferred).
Basic mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and equipment manuals.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
Ability to climb on and off mobile equipment.
Frequent exposure to industrial environments, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Ability to navigate uneven surfaces in active scrap yard operations.
Work Environment
This role operates in an industrial scrap recycling environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
