Job Title: Research Associate, Science & Technology

About the Role
Blue Ocean offers research services to students and works with them on ambitious, innovative projects. We are looking for a Research & Student Success Associate who can lead research independently, mentor students from idea to finished work, and take full ownership of each student's progress so that no deadline slips and no commitment is dropped.
This is a hands-on role for someone equally comfortable running a research project themselves and coordinating expert collaborators. You will be the person who makes sure every student plan is executed end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities
Research leadership
- Independently lead and execute research, particularly in STEM areas, producing work to a high academic standard.
- Coordinate with faculty members and post-docs engaged to guide a student's research — managing scope, timelines, deliverables, and quality so the project moves forward smoothly.
Student projects and mentorship
- Work one-on-one with students from ideation through completion on innovative projects they want to build or develop.
- Help shape, plan, and execute projects of any kind, providing technical and academic guidance throughout.
Student success ownership
- Own the holistic plan we create for each student and ensure the ball is never dropped — that every milestone and deadline is met.
- Support students in preparing for and successfully participating in global competitions.
Required Qualifications
- MTech/MSc or PhD in Physics/Technology/Maths from a top global university with a strong academic record.
- A track record of research and/or published papers.
- Strong project coordination skills and the ability to work independently as well as with academic collaborators.
- Excellent communication and mentoring ability with students.
Preferred
- Prior work experience alongside the above qualifications is an added advantage.
