Reporter

Role Description The Reporter role at GDG Jalandhar is a full-time, on-site position based in Phagwara. The Reporter will cover GDG events, activities, and community initiatives by attending hackathons, meetups, and workshops, and collecting accurate information and perspectives from participants. Daily tasks include researching event topics, conducting interviews with organizers and attendees, and producing clear news stories, reports, and summaries for GDG platforms. The Reporter will work with multimedia content such as photos and short videos, coordinate with the communications and organizing teams, and ensure timely publication across web, social media, and internal channels. This role also involves maintaining an archive of event coverage, monitoring trends in the local developer ecosystem, and contributing ideas to improve community storytelling and outreach.

Qualifications

• Strong reporting skills, including gathering information on-site, conducting interviews, and verifying facts.
• Excellent writing and news writing abilities, with the capacity to produce concise, engaging, and accurate content.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with organizers, speakers, and community members.
• Basic multimedia skills (e.g., handling photos, short video clips, and social media-ready content) to support event coverage.
• Ability to work on-site in Phagwara, manage time effectively during events, and handle multiple assignments.
• Familiarity with developer communities, technology events, or IT topics is highly beneficial.
• Comfort with using digital tools for content creation and publishing (e.g., word processors, CMS, social media platforms).
• Relevant academic background in journalism, communications, media studies, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
