Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President, Digital Products, IT Portfolio Management and Delivery, the Product Manager plays a strategic role by aligning multiple squads and their respective Product Owners on a common endeavour. This role must focus on defining and driving mid-term and long-term vision for their respective domain aligned with the Banking Industry Architecture Reference Model (BIAN). He/she monitors market trends, identifies new potential opportunities to be supported by the product, and ensures the product meets the needs of the client and the organization.

The Product Manager is accountable for the product planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle. He/she ensures that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and business goals.

For this role, the Product Manager oversees two of BDC’s Digital Crown Jewels:

  • Client Space – BDC’s secure, centralized portal that connects BDC with entrepreneurs on a daily basis, bringing financial request, document exchange, loan tracking, and client information into a single, trusted digital experience.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) – Built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, this platform plays a critical role in supporting client interactions. Leveraging both the functional and non-functional capabilities of the platform is a key responsibility of his role.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Acts as the voice for the respective domain.
  • Develops, owns and ensures proper communication of the product vision and 12-month product roadmap in collaboration with Product Owners and respective key partners across the organization.
  • Assesses and measures value and prioritizes opportunities to ensure the teams focus on the items that deliver maximum value that are aligned with product vision and organizational priorities.
  • Act as proxy to the Benefit Owner for the creation and follow-up of the business cases as needed
  • Manages IT assets associated to respective domain in strong collaboration with Product Owners and Business Owners.
  • Works collaboratively with Product Owners, Solution and Enterprise Architects and various stakeholders to enable the product vision.
  • Provides information and makes decisions in a timely manner.
  • Works in an Agile environment and continuously reviews the business needs aligned with clear benefits, refines priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks based on evolving needs and constraints.
  • Foresees dependencies between products and collaborates with other Product Managers to ensure proper prioritization of cross functional opportunities.
  • Organizes milestone reviews, keeping processes as simple and efficient as possible.
  • Educates stakeholders in the delivery team's Ways of Working (WoW).
  • Uses weekly Product Manager synchronization meetings to align priorities and find solutions when facing constraints
  • Participates as a voting member of the Architect Council when required.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Product Manager or a pertinent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of Agile principles and DevOps processes.
  • Experience in the banking industry is a strong asset.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate complex information into clear narratives so that the audience understands the product vision and how to enable it.
  • Take data-driven decisions, lead Product Owners to identify root causes of behaviors and issues, target improvements and success and identify new opportunities.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps is considered an asset.
  • PSPO (Professional Scrum Product Owner) certification is an asset,
