Job description
ABOUT BASE
Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Base is launching new products, new deployment models, and new facilities in rapid succession. As we scale from early-stage operations to a high-throughput deployment engine, we need someone who can engineer the processes that hold it all together. We are hiring a Deployments Engineer to own the end-to-end process architecture for our warehousing and logistics function—creating the playbooks, systems, and workflows that will allow us to replicate successful operations across any new market or product.
This is a process engineering role with a strong operational execution component. You will be embedded with the warehouse and manufacturing teams, solving hard problems with a first-principles mindset and leaving behind scalable, documented systems.
What You’ll Do
- Create and maintain a comprehensive, living playbook with all processes, tasks, SOPs, and a master timeline to enable repeatable (“copy + paste”) warehouse standups.
- Document all current-state workflows and identify gaps or inconsistencies that introduce risk or inefficiency.
- Maintain version control and communicate playbook updates to relevant stakeholders as processes evolve.
- Lead process engineering efforts to support pivots and fulfillment of new projects and products as they arise.
- Conduct root cause analysis on operational mistakes and implement systemic fixes.
- Design physical and digital workflow improvements to reduce cycle times, errors, and operational costs.
- Partner with Software teams to translate process requirements into tooling features or automations and coordinate their implementation.
- Serve as the operational liaison between manufacturing and deployment, ensuring handoff processes are well-defined and executed.
What You’ll Bring
- 3–6 years of experience in process engineering, industrial engineering, operations engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to design, document, and implement scalable operational processes in a physical or hybrid (physical + digital) environment.
- Experience collaborating with manufacturing, warehouse, or supply chain teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strong technical foundation—able to translate operational workflows into systems requirements and work credibly alongside software teams.
- Excellent written communication skills; able to produce clear, concise SOPs and process documentation that others can execute independently.
- First-principles thinking and comfort challenging the status quo with data and structured reasoning.
- Experience with ERP or WMS platforms is strongly preferred.
About the Team
The Deployments Warehousing & Logistics team is responsible for the physical infrastructure that makes Base installs possible—managing warehouse locations, orchestrating inter-warehouse transfers, running final-mile logistics, and ensuring inventory accuracy across our internal systems. We solve the difficult, high impact problems that determine whether crews show up to job sites ready to work. Joining this team means owning processes that directly impact Base’s ability to scale and deliver on its mission.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
OUR VALUES
- First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
- Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
- Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
- Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
- Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
- Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
- Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
DO THE BEST WORK OF YOUR LIFE AT BASE.
