The Role
AXS is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys and thrives in working with a variety of tools, languages, and architectures while building features and applications for our core ticketing systems. You will work on consumer-facing and B2B applications that can scale and handle high demand, with primary ownership of the FanSight user experience, front-end architecture, and customer-facing web platform, while collaborating across complex enterprise systems that meet our global needs.
As Lead Software Engineer, you will own systems and products end-to-end for the FanSight platform, including front-end architecture and user experience strategy, balancing hands-on coding with planning and team leadership.
You will align technical efforts with business and product goals, guide technical direction and team best practices, and act as the tech lead for a team of engineers working on the FanSight platform.
What You’ll Be Doing
Essential Functions
- Design and build new features and enhancements for our global ticketing platforms
- Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of the FanSight front-end platform, driving scalable, maintainable, and high-performing user experiences.
- Partner closely with Product and Design teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and responsive customer-facing applications that serve millions of fans.
- Establish front-end engineering standards and best practices, including component architecture, performance optimization, accessibility, testing, and maintainability.
- Optimize for user experience and performance in scaling out our applications to handle massive spikes in traffic
- Build scalable modules for internal applications and external partners
- Create services that power the core of our infrastructure, implementing APIs and features for our mission-critical products
- Work closely with other engineers, architects, business analysts, product and project managers to create innovative solutions that continue to push the boundaries of our business
- Participate in design and code reviews to ensure best practices and high-quality code
- Develop consistent, well-tested code with open-source programming languages and frameworks
- Work with third parties to make a seamless and integrated experience for our customers and fans
- Own systems and products end-to-end for the FanSight platform, balancing hands-on coding with planning and team leadership
- Define the annual technology roadmap and capacity plan for the project, and make key technical decisions
- Establish and enforce coding standards, code review standards, and engineering best practices across the squad
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, fostering technical growth across the team
- Lead sprint pre-planning and task assignments, and conduct feasibility assessments and feedback sessions for new product features
- Proactively assess and identify areas to improve performance, stability, and maintainability, and identify and mitigate technical risks early
- Partner with security stakeholders on security audits and remediation of findings
- Act as the liaison between the engineering team and stakeholders, including product managers, project managers, architects, and other cross-functional partners
What to Bring
Years of experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities
- 7+ years of relevant software development experience within a professional environment, including demonstrated experience as a technical lead
- Experience leading the architecture and development of large-scale consumer-facing web applications, including performance optimization, accessibility, responsive design, and modern UI engineering practices.
- BS in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Strong full-stack engineering background with deep expertise in modern front-end technologies including JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and front-end architecture patterns, complemented by proficiency in modern back-end languages and frameworks (e.g., C#/.NET, Node.js, Python, or Go).
- Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed, high-throughput, low-latency services and RESTful APIs at scale
- Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Solid technical foundation and understanding of the software development life cycle
- Proven record of learning new languages, skills, and technologies quickly, with minimal guidance
- Ability to take initiative, stay focused, and maintain accountability
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with the ability to focus on achieving the target while minding longer-term goals along the way
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineers, lead technical discussions, and influence cross-functional partners
Nice to Have
- Experience leading architecture and design for consumer-facing, high-traffic web or mobile platforms
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with Git and CI/CD
- Experience with event-driven technologies, e.g., Kafka
- Experience with TDD and/or BDD
- Experience using NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch or AWS DynamoDB
- Experience in the ticketing industry, inventory management systems, or e-commerce

Pay Scale: $160,000 - $180,000
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.

Currently, full time employees are eligible for these benefits on the first day of employment.
