Job description
Awetomaton is seeking a Senior Lead Scientist to support existing customers at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In this role you will lead a team of 3-5 developing R&D algorithms to derive insights from Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT). You will be applying expertise in imagery science to write software in Python using modern libraries and Software Engineering methodologies. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years experience in designing and deploying innovative algorithms for image processing (both conventional and machine-learning), managing cloud-deployed full-stack web application solutions, and leading teams to solve complex technical challenges. This position will largely be performed from WPAFB. Active Top Secret security clearance required.

- Experience leading teams in a dynamic R&D environment
- Expertise in GEOINT image processing and data exploitation using Python
- Familiarity with algorithm deployment concepts including containerization, cloud and platform environments
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline
- Ten (10) years of minimum experience in a image processing focused engineering career (Electrical Engineering, Computer Vision, etc.)
- Eight (8) years of minimum experience developing image processing solutions in Python
- Eight (8) years of minimum experience with processing, exploitation, and algorithm development of GEOINT datasets
- Five (5) years of minimum experience with full-stack web development using Python FastAPI, React, TypeScript or equivalent technologies.
- Two (2) years of minimum experience with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.) and associated cloud deployments.
- Mastery of software configuration management using Git.
Desired Education and Experience
- Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline
- Expertise developing modular, reusable software via strong Object-Oriented Software development practices
- Experience using GitFlow and GitOps workflows using team repository (GitHub / Gitlab / etc.)
