Austal USA Advanced Technologies (AT) is a division of Austal USA, a global defense prime contractor and a designer and manufacturer of defense and commercial ships.

Austal USA AT operates a technology hub in Charlottesville VA which works to bring cutting-edge manufacturing technologies to scale and also oversees operation of the U.S. Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM COE) located in Danville, VA. The mission of the AM COE is to operationalize additive manufacturing in the submarine industrial base and provide emergent request support to sustain our Nation’s fleet.
As a Supplier Project Coordinator, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the maturation of a defense industrial base that supports additive manufacturing for submarine construction. You’ll be the main touch point for coordination of all activities supporting the technical qualification and approval of AM suppliers. This will be a challenging role synchronizing the needs, schedules, and plans of many stakeholders simultaneously, and then reporting out these activities to leadership. REPORTS TO: Fleet Support Program Manager

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide coordination support for Austal-led outsourced production.
- Create project schedule and work sequences in coordination with vendors based on required customer deliverables.
- Coordinate, mediate and resolve conflicts related to constraints that affect performance to cost and schedule.
- Coordinate, conduct and attend meetings with suppliers and other stakeholders as required.
- Engage with suppliers almost daily to request progress updates, address roadblocks and then identify the pathway to remediate challenges in work schedules.
- Engage with the customer to provide project updates or request required inputs to complete projects.
- Ensure the work in progress is in accordance with the published schedule sequence and create weekly reports for stakeholders.
- Maintain daily communication with the Program Manager, Engineering, Supply Manager, Quality Manager and other stakeholders to report status, concerns and issues and provide support with variance analysis and associated. corrective action plans.
- Monitor and validate lessons learned processes and initiatives to maintain and promote continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 4 years related experience accepted with High school diploma or equivalent in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
- Related experience is defined as having experience with creating schedules and tracking performance metrics for projects using project management software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with US government and/or ship repair organizations preferred.
- Program/Project Management Certification or related coursework is a plus.
- Basic working knowledge of budgeting and scheduling tools and associated schedule management practices.
- Ability to validate, interpret and understand basic task scheduling or work sequencing.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project or other project management software.
- Experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
- Occasional travel is expected, up to one (1) trip per month for 2 to 4 days (approximate).

- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.

The noise level in this occasional work environment is usually very loud, + 90 dB.
