JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, Athabasca Tribal Council is seeking an experienced and results driven Recruiter to join our Human Resources team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in sourcing, attracting, and hiring top talent, primarily for the Child and Family Services Department. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end recruitment process, including job posting, screening, interviewing, and hiring. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, highly organized, and demonstrates a strong understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver full-cycle recruitment with a primary focus on Child and Family Services.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, role requirements, and desired candidate profiles.
- Develop and post compelling job advertisements on appropriate platforms.
- Proactively source candidates through various channels (e.g., job boards, networking, referrals, Indigenous employment networks).
- Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and shortlist qualified applicants.
- Coordinate interviews and assessments with hiring managers.
- Conduct reference checks and facilitate background screening.
- Maintain accurate and confidential candidate records using applicant tracking systems.
- Support recruitment reporting and track key hiring metrics.
- Contribute to employer branding and community outreach initiatives
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support organizational objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Diploma in Human Resources or a related field (required).
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in recruitment and general HR functions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR management systems (HRIS/ATS).
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and privacy standards.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational and time management abilities; able to prioritize and multitask in a fastpaced environment.
- Ability to build positive relationships across diverse teams and communities.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
REQUIREMENTS
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
- Clear Child and Family Services Intervention Check.
- Class 5 Drivers License with a clear Drivers Abstract.
- Availability to travel and work outside of business hours when necessary.
- Knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and values is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of Cree and/or Dene is considered an asset.
- CPHR designation in progress or completed is considered an asset but not required.
