Job Title: Senior Backend Developer (Node.js / AWS)

Location: Toronto, ON

Experience Level: 6–8 years

Role Summary

The Senior Backend Developer will lead backend development efforts using Node.js while following JavaScript and TypeScript best practices. This role involves architecting and implementing AWS cloud-native solutions, designing microservices and serverless architectures, and driving technical excellence within the development team.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance backend solutions in alignment with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & Architecture

  • Lead backend development using Node.js with JavaScript/TypeScript best practices.
  • Architect and implement AWS cloud-native solutions (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, ECS/EKS).
  • Design and develop microservices and serverless architectures.
  • Build and optimize REST APIs ensuring strong security, scalability, and performance.
  • Oversee code quality, reviews, and provide technical guidance for the development team.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with Product, QA, and DevOps teams for end-to-end delivery.
  • Collaborate on planning, design, and implementation of new features.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues using AWS CloudWatch and logging tools.

DevOps & Automation

  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Ensure security best practices including IAM, JWT, secret management, and encryption.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new AWS services and Node.js technologies to improve efficiency and performance.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in Node.js with JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Expertise in AWS cloud-native services: Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, ECS/EKS.
  • Experience designing REST APIs, microservices, and serverless architectures.
  • Hands-on with CI/CD tools: CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
  • Understanding of security best practices: IAM, JWT, encryption, secrets management.
  • Experience monitoring, debugging, and resolving production issues in cloud environments.

Additional Skills (Optional / Bonus)

  • Experience with TCS BaNCS, Core Java, or other financial services platforms.
  • Exposure to Cloud DevOps practices and AWS cost optimization.

Experience Required

  • 6–8 years of backend development experience with Node.js and AWS.
