Role Description The Licensed Associate Counselor will provide individual and, as appropriate, couples or family counseling to clients at Art of Being Counseling. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing treatment plans, facilitating therapy sessions, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and coordinating care with other providers when needed. The counselor will participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development to support ethical and effective practice. This is a full-time hybrid role based in West Nyack, NY, with a combination of in-office sessions and some work-from-home flexibility for telehealth services.

Qualifications

• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Associate Counselor (e.g., LMHC, LAC, or equivalent) in New York State.
• Master’s degree in Counseling.
• Experience providing individual counseling and completing intake assessments, treatment planning, and progress notes. Experience with couples and families preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches (such as CBT, DBT, person-centered, EFT, Gottman or mindfulness-based interventions).
• Strong skills in building therapeutic rapport, maintaining professional boundaries, and demonstrating cultural humility.

Commitment to maintaining complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

• Ability to use electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms, with solid organizational and time-management skills.
• Commitment to ethical practice, ongoing learning, and participation in supervision and team collaboration.
• Experience or interest in working with diverse populations and a variety of clinical concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma).
