Job description
Our client, a well-established professional services firm in downtown Vancouver, is seeking an experienced Trust Accounting Supervisor to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal accounting professional who enjoys balancing hands-on trust accounting responsibilities with leadership, process improvement, and compliance oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily trust accounting operations and related workflows
- Review and approve trust transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, electronic transfers, and payment requests
- Perform monthly trust reconciliations and assist with reporting requirements
- Support transaction closings, payouts, and other trust-related financial activities
- Ensure compliance with applicable trust accounting rules, regulations, and internal policies
- Assist with audit preparation, reporting obligations, and regulatory deadlines
- Provide mentorship, training, and day-to-day support to accounting staff
- Collaborate with lawyers, staff, and leadership regarding trust accounting matters
- Identify opportunities to improve procedures, controls, and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of trust accounting experience within a law firm environment
- Previous supervisory, team lead, or mentoring experience is an asset
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong knowledge of trust accounting procedures, reconciliations, and compliance requirements
- Ability to work paid overtime as needed
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Experience with legal accounting or practice management systems
