This is a hybrid role working 4 days per week onsite in our client’s Montreal office.

- What You’ll Do**
- **Design Strategy & Leadership:**
- Leverage your deep understanding of user interface patterns and behaviors to enhance user comprehension and optimize task performance.
- Utilize visualizations and interactions to facilitate analytic thinking, especially with large datasets.
- Lead design critiques, assess interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative work activities to foster innovation.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for interaction design within the product design team.
- **Artifact Creation & Delivery:**
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of interaction design theory, visual design theory, research data, and best practices to inform design decisions.
- Develop complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate design concepts.
- Create detailed prototypes that provide precise delivery specifications for development teams.
- Present sophisticated interaction design work to senior stakeholders, articulating rationale and impact.
- **Research & Testing:**
- Facilitate and oversee usability testing to gather critical user feedback.
- Actively participate in or initiate user research activities to deepen understanding of user needs.
- Conduct in-depth research into interaction design strategies within the financial services sector and perform competitive audits relevant to specific design or business objectives.
- Execute pattern, micro-interaction, and component design audits as needed to ensure consistency and quality.
- *What You’ll Bring**
- Must-have Qualifications:**
- BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing application design samples.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across various channels and platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in an applied research setting, including successfully integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
- Exceptional ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic, clearly describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions.
- Proven expertise with industry-standard design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, and UserTesting.com.
- Nice-to-have Qualifications:**
- MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them effectively during each product phase.
- A keen appreciation for the potential of ‘design thinking’ methodologies.
- Experience working within a large organization and an agile development environment.
