Role Overview:

The L3 Fortinet SD-WAN Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, configuring,

and troubleshooting complex Secure SD-WAN solutions, FortiGate firewalls, and

routing protocols. This role involves providing high-level support for enterprise client

(Europe), managing critical incidents, and ensuring maximum uptime, security, and

performance across WAN infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Deployment: Lead the architecture and implementation of Fortinet

Secure SD-WAN solutions, including Site-to-Site VPN overlays, SD-WAN rules,

and performance SLA profiles.

• Advanced Troubleshooting: Perform in-depth technical analysis of complex

network issues (L3) using packet analysis tools like Wireshark and Fortinet

troubleshooting commands.

• Centralized Management: Utilize Forti Manager and Forti Analyzer for

centralized management, policy configuration, and analytics.

• Security Integration: Integrate SD-WAN with existing network security

frameworks, implementing FortiGate firewall policies, NAT, and routing protocols

(BGP, OSPF).

• Performance Optimization: Proactively monitor WAN link health, optimizing

SD-WAN member performance to ensure reliability.

• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation for network

configurations, policies, and standard operating procedures.

• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to L1/L2 engineers and collaborate on

cross-functional team initiatives.

Required Technical Skills:

• Fortinet Expertise: Expert knowledge of FortiGate firewalls (FortiOS) and SD WAN components.
• Networking Protocols: Proficient in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and security

protocols (IPsec VPN).

• Tools: Hands-on experience with Forti Manager, Forti Analyzer, and Wireshark.
• Infrastructure: Knowledge of ISP connections, MPLS, and Internet Lease Lines.
• Scripting (Advantageous): Basic knowledge of Python or Ansible for

automation.

Required Certifications & Experience

• Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise networking and

security.

• Certifications: Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) Certification (Level 5-7

preferred) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher.

Soft Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interactions.
• Ability to work in rotational Shift.
• Incident ownership and ability to handle critical, fast-paced environment
