Job description
Why Apex?
Most hospitals say they care about culture. We designed ours.
Apex Vets is an independently owned emergency & specialty hospital built on what we call the Apex Climb—a team-first approach where no one climbs alone. We operate like a rope team: we support each other, communicate clearly, and move forward together, especially when things get hard.
We believe great medicine comes from people who feel supported, challenged, and proud of the work they do.
What Makes This Role Different
You're not here to simply carry out treatments.
You're here to be a true clinical partner in emergency medicine.
At Apex, technicians are trusted to work at the top of their skillset. You'll manage critical patients, support advanced procedures, think critically, and play a direct role in patient outcomes.
You'll be supported, challenged, and expected to continue growing as a nurse and teammate.
What You'll Do
You'll help drive patient care in a fast-paced emergency environment:
- Monitor and manage hospitalized patients
- Obtain histories, perform assessments, and recognize changes in condition
- Place and maintain IV catheters
- Administer medications and treatments
- Perform blood draws and run diagnostics
- Assist with anesthesia and emergency procedures
- Take radiographs and support diagnostic workflows
- Calculate and administer fluids and CRIs
- Provide wound care and bandaging
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Communicate effectively with doctors, teammates, and clients
This is hands-on, high-acuity emergency medicine.
Who Thrives Here (The Apex Climb Mentality)
People who:
- Climb as part of a team, not as a soloist
- Stay calm when things get busy
- Take initiative and communicate early
- Continue learning even when it's uncomfortable
- Support teammates and expect the same in return
- Take ownership of patient care
If you're looking to grow your skills and practice at a high level, you'll fit in well here.
If you're looking to simply complete tasks and go home, this probably isn't the right environment.
What You'll Gain
- Competitive pay
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with employer match
- Paid time off
- Continuing education support
- Opportunities for advancement and leadership development
- On-site gym
- Wellness room
- Large break space
- A leadership team that teaches, supports, and climbs alongside you
We invest heavily in our technicians because they are essential to the care we provide.
The Reality of the Role
Emergency medicine is rewarding, but it isn't easy.
- You'll be on your feet for much of the shift
- You'll lift and handle patients of varying sizes
- You'll encounter emotional and high-stress situations
- You'll be asked to think quickly and adapt constantly
But you'll do it alongside a team that communicates clearly, supports one another, and shares responsibility for the outcome.
