Overview

Apex Systems, a global IT services provider, is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer with expert‑level knowledge of Claude’s AI capabilities and strong hands‑on experience in Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, and modern ML frameworks). The ideal candidate will be proficient in SQL (complex queries, optimization, and data transformations), experienced with Snowflake, and skilled in deploying and productionizing machine learning models at scale. This role requires a proven ability to independently drive projects end‑to‑end—from initial exploration through full production deployment—while leveraging AI to accelerate ML development velocity. The position is for a contract placement with one of our major international retail clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage Claude to enhance ML workflows, automate development tasks, accelerate experimentation, and optimize production pipelines.
  • Build and maintain Python‑based ML tooling leveraging pandas, scikit‑learn, and other ML frameworks.
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries for data transformation, feature engineering, and model scoring pipelines.
  • Develop and operationalize ML workflows within Snowflake, including integration with ML models and data pipelines.
  • Deploy and productionize machine learning models using scalable best practices (versioning, monitoring, CI/CD, reproducibility).
  • Independently take ML initiatives from ideation → proof of concept → MVP → full production deployment.
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing ML systems to increase reliability, robustness, and throughput.
  • Work cross‑functionally with engineering, data science, and platform teams to enhance ML velocity and operational efficiency.

Required Technical Skills

  • Claude: Expert‑level understanding of Claude’s capabilities, workflows, and prompt engineering techniques; ability to integrate AI into ML development processes.
  • Python: Strong experience with pandas, scikit‑learn, and common ML/AI libraries; ability to build robust ML tooling.
  • SQL: Advanced proficiency in writing complex, high‑performance queries and optimising analytical workloads.
  • Snowflake: Hands‑on experience working with Snowflake data pipelines, transformations, and ML integration patterns.
  • ML Deployment: Proven experience productionizing models (batch, real‑time, or event‑driven) and maintaining them in live environments.
  • End‑to‑End Ownership: Demonstrated ability to independently deliver projects from exploration through production deployment.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with ML observability tools (e.g., MLflow, Weights & Biases).
  • Familiarity with LLM‑powered agents, retrieval pipelines, or AI workflow automation.
  • Experience deploying ML solutions into cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
