Job description

Andrew Morgan, LLC is a rapidly growing Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and HUBZone-certified organization. We are seeking a qualified Data Engineer I to support a potential contract award with DoD Federal Client This role is contingent upon contract award and will play a critical part in our efforts to deliver exceptional results for this opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Junior Data Engineer will support the Senior Data Engineer in pipeline development, data transformation, and secure data integration activities supporting the VA Office of Information & Technology (OIT) IT Budget and Finance (ITBF).

 

  • Support planning, monitoring, and maintenance of data assets provided by the Data Centralization and Business Intelligence (DCBI) team.
  • Support existing ETL packages, validation scripts, and migration workflows for ingestion into Apptio using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Support the Senior Data Engineer with the development of new SSIS packages for additional data sources when identified by the customer.
  • Maintain a SSIS Job Maintenance Log to identify updates and changes to SSIS-based data interfaces and related data staging processes.
  • Update existing SSIS packages based on upstream system changes identified by the SSIS Job Maintenance Log.
  • Support data staging and data loading into production environments.
  • Support resolution of help desk tickets (Levels 1–3) related to all data assets and aspects of the data integration environment.
  • Support performance tuning and indexing of operational databases.
  • Support sustainment and troubleshooting for Microsoft Power BI reports and scheduled refreshes.
  • Maintain Technical Documentation including Interface Control Document (ICD)s, Data Flow Diagram (DFD)s, Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD)s, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)s, Center of Excellency (CoE) documentation and training materials.

 

 REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • 3 or more years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or related technical roles.
  • Skilled in SQL for data engineering and automation.
  • Hands on experience developing, supporting and troubleshooting Power BI reports and semantic models.
  • Must be eligible for Tier 1 background investigation.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • Background in DoD, federal healthcare, or compliance-driven settings
  • Proven expertise in building and managing data pipelines using SSIS.

Salary is commensurate with both location and experience.
