Job Description – Lab Assistant (Computer Lab)

Position: Lab Assistant – Computer Lab

Location: Amity University Hyderabad, Shamshabad, Hyderabad, Telangana – 500108

About Amity University

We are seeking a dedicated and technically competent Lab Assistant to support the effective functioning of our Computer Laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of computer laboratories.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
Install and update operating systems, software applications, and antivirus solutions.
Provide technical support to faculty, students, and laboratory users during practical sessions.
Ensure all computer systems, networking equipment, and internet connectivity function efficiently.
Maintain laboratory equipment, inventories, software licenses, and asset records.
Assist faculty in conducting laboratory classes, examinations, workshops, and technical events.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and coordinate hardware repairs when required.
Ensure laboratory safety, cleanliness, and adherence to university policies.
Monitor utilization of laboratory resources and report technical issues promptly.
Assist in setting up project demonstrations, seminars, and departmental activities.
Support data backup, system security, and user account management as assigned.

Eligibility Criteria

/Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Electronics, or a related discipline.
1–3 years of relevant experience in managing computer laboratories, educational institutions, or IT support environments.
Freshers with strong technical knowledge may also be considered.

Required Technical Skills

Installation and configuration of Windows and Linux operating systems.
Basic networking concepts (LAN, Wi-Fi, IP configuration, routers, switches).
Hardware troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
Installation and management of software applications.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and educational software.
Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and antivirus management.
Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently.
