We are seeking a Lead Donor Support Counselor III. for our Charlotte, NC Office located at: 13500 South Point Blvd, Ste L., Charlotte, NC 28273
Shift Information: Monday - Friday with Rotating Saturdays 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM
Pay Information: The starting hourly rate for this position is $25.91
Responsibilities
1. Ensure donors with abnormal or unexpected test results are deferred and appropriately notified.
2. Create education materials regarding risk behaviors, precautions and possible future implications to health providing appropriate community referrals to donors and coach counselors how to educate donors sensitively.
3. Counsel blood donors who require the most tact and sensitivity, including where there are changes in eligibility status and eligibility for reentry testing.
4. Identify where donor information gathered during counseling sessions require follow-up (such as identifying suspect products and retrieval, upgrading Deceased Donor Registration or notifying outside agencies of infectious disease risk).
5. Manage follow-up studies and testing and ensure case files are accurately maintained.
6. Support and supervise staff by assigning work, determining priorities, monitoring timelines, training, and ensuring team coverage for lunch and break periods.
7. Prepare and deliver educational seminars to internal and external audiences.
Scope
Individual contributor that is fully proficient in applying subject matter knowledge. Knowledge base acquired from several years of experience in particular area. Work independently and may instruct or coach other professionals. Represents the Red Cross in interactions with blood donors and the public regarding transmissible diseases.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in health science, biology, nursing or a related field required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related hospital, laboratory, infectious disease or sexually transmitted disease clinic setting experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Management Experience: N/A
Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on a team. The ability to interact effectively with others is required. Intermediate to advanced level computer skills with Microsoft Office applications in a Windows environment is required.
Travel: Some travel may be required.
*Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
Physical Requirements
The duties are representative of the essential functions of the position. Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods of time.
