Job description

Amentum is seeking a Procurement Support Specialist 2 for the Las Vegas, NV area.

Purpose and Scope:    

Works with government representatives, technicians and supervisors in all phases of purchase requisition creation and administration. Responsible for ensuring purchase requisitions are following government policies and procedures. This is a mid-level position that will be expected to possess a general understanding of government purchasing, ability to work independently with some supervision and instructions, be solution-oriented, contribute to meeting team and/or organizational goals, demonstrate good judgement and work together with stakeholders and other departments when needed. Supervised by the site Production Control Supervisor.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and processes purchase requisitions.
  • Provides information to requester that includes communication of procurement actions or status and assist with special requirements.
  • Adheres to Supply Chain Procurement procedures to assure certain acquisition purchase requisitions are routed through Main Base Supply.
  • Assists in the preparation of procurement centered reports.
  • Contacts suppliers, secures bids and prepares admin forms and documents.
  • Work with vendors to ensure prompt delivery of products for stock and to satisfy immediate customer demands.
  • Ensures compliance with FAR/DFARS and Agency-specific regulations. Confer with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
  • Supports the goals and objectives of the company as a part of a work group or team member.
  • Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments and cancellations.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Provides input to overall procurement strategy and support the development of new capable suppliers.
  • Monitors performance to procurement goals and objectives and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with processing re-supply purchase requisitions.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Must have at least two years of experience in subcontracts, procurement, supply chain or related field.
  • Must be proficient in basic office software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
  • Position requires traveling to remote locations.
  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Work is typically performed in an office environment; however, the successful candidate may work in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell.  Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 40 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Compensation Details:

$70,000 - $85,000
