Job description
Description
Are you passionate about transforming operational processes through data-driven insights Are you motivated to have a direct impact on customers around the world Do you have a business analytics background and love for continuous improvement and finding creative solutions to challenging problems Amazon's Translation Services team is responsible for providing translation tools and solutions to support the localization and translation needs of all Amazon businesses. At Translation Services Operations, we partner with other internal Amazonian teams to translate and deliver content for users of Amazon's tools and services around the world. We obsess over finding the optimal balance between quality, speed, and cost for customers we serve.
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to own end-to-end analytical work for our centralized metrics and reporting function - from understanding complex data dependencies to delivering actionable insights that drive business decisions. You will own problems from start to finish: partnering with business teams to understand their needs, building the reports and tools that surface meaningful patterns, and explaining the why behind the numbers. You will build dashboards, create new metrics, develop analytical frameworks, and leverage existing data sources to keep stakeholders informed and empowered. You will be comfortable working in an international, dynamic environment, where change is present as we constantly grow, improve, and innovate.
Key job responsibilities
- Own and develop key operational metrics end-to-end - from understanding data sources and dependencies, to designing metric logic, building reporting solutions, and delivering insights that drive action
- Partner hands-on with business teams (Operations, Quality, Business Development, Customer Success) to understand their data needs, translate them into structured analytical approaches, and deliver reporting that enables informed decision-making
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions that provide a single source of truth for organizational performance
- Dive deep into data to identify patterns, trends, and root causes - then clearly communicate the what, the so what, and the now what to stakeholders and leadership
- Proactively identify opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) to optimize data insights generation, automate reporting workflows, and surface patterns at scale
- Create new metrics, implement new measurement logics, and develop analytical tools that evolve with the business - ensuring our reporting capabilities stay ahead of organizational needs
- Conduct root cause analyses on performance variations and develop scalable frameworks to monitor, explain, and improve business outcomes
A day in the life
In the morning, you'll review performance dashboards ahead of a business review, identifying any anomalies or trends that need attention - preparing clear narratives around the data to share with leadership. Mid-morning, you'll partner with an operations team to understand a new reporting need, mapping out data dependencies and designing the logic for a new metric they've requested - collaborating with data engineering teams to ensure the right data is available. After lunch, you'll dive into a dataset to investigate why a key performance indicator shifted month-over-month, slicing the data across multiple dimensions to isolate the driver and document your findings. Later, you'll work on building an automated reporting solution that replaces a manual process, leveraging AI capabilities to surface insights that would otherwise require hours of manual analysis. Throughout the day, you'll balance immediate stakeholder requests with longer-term projects that strengthen the organization's data foundation.
