AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We ensure that the cloud keeps running smoothly for our customers by supporting all AWS data centers and critical equipment such as servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems.

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer who can thrive in a fast‑paced environment while partnering with managers and business leaders to offer insightful, data‑driven recommendations. The ideal candidate will be deeply analytical, enthusiastic about data mining, and proficient in generating insights that guide organizational strategy.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will dive deep into data and develop essential metrics to identify areas for improvement. You will partner with the business to implement effective solutions and enhance customer experiences through robust technical and analytical insights. Your efforts will empower data‑driven decision‑making by implementing data mining principles and developing analytical skills to define and measure key business health metrics. You will create automated reports and dashboards to communicate findings effectively using self‑service tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain large‑scale data structures for business intelligence analytics.
• Implement best practices in data modeling to support online reporting and analysis across multi‑dimensional datasets from various sources.
• Gather business and functional requirements, translating them into robust and scalable solutions within the overall data architecture.
• Analyze source data systems to drive best practices across teams.
• Examine vast quantities of data to uncover real‑world solutions, building metrics to assist business decisions.
• Participate in the full development lifecycle from design to delivery, ensuring comprehensive dataset documentation and metadata.
• Assess proposed dataset implementations by peer data engineers and identify business process improvements from data insights.
• Evaluate business processes and propose data‑driven enhancements.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data with tools like Redshift, Oracle, and NoSQL.
• 4+ years with data visualization software such as Tableau Desktop or Quicksight.
• 4+ years in data warehouse architectures, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and SQL coding.
• Expertise in using SQL to extract data from databases or data warehouses and scripting experience with Python.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or related field.
• Experience in a BI role within a tech company or financial institution.
• Background in data mining, ETL, and working with large, complex datasets in business contexts.
• Knowledge of forecasting and statistical analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with AWS tools and technologies such as Redshift, S3, and EC2.
• 1+ years of statistical analysis experience.

The base salary range for this position is as follows: Arlington, VA - $99,500.00 - $160,000.00 annually; Herndon, VA - $99,500.00 - $160,000.00 annually.
