Job description
COMPANY OVERVIEW:
Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting-edge defense startup founded by two former Navy electrical engineers with a proven track record in robotics and software. We are developing an autonomous gun turret using advanced computer vision and control systems to precisely detect, track, and neutralize enemy drones.
Position Overview
As a Test Engineer, your primary mission is to own product acceptance and end-of-line (EOL) test systems as we transition from development into scaled production. This role is responsible for building and maintaining reliable, repeatable test processes that ensure every unit shipped meets performance and quality expectations. You will work closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering to improve yield, resolve failures, and enable increasing production rates. This is a hands-on role. You will be expected to both design systems and step in to support execution when needed.
What You'll Do
- Own development and maintenance of product acceptance and EOL test systems
- Design and implement test processes that are robust, repeatable, and scalable
- Drive improvements in test throughput to support increasing production rates
- Analyze test data to identify yield issues, failure trends, and opportunities for improvement
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions
- Design fixtures, instrumentation, and automation to improve consistency and reduce manual effort
- Partner with engineering to improve testability and manufacturability
- Work closely with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve issues and maintain production flow
- Develop and maintain test procedures, documentation, and work instructions
- Continuously improve test systems to increase reliability, uptime, and scalability
What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in hardware testing, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment
- Experience with test instrumentation (DMMs, oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, power supplies, etc.)
- Ability to analyze test data and identify trends impacting yield and performance
- Experience with root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Willingness to be hands-on and support test execution when needed
You’ll Stand Out
- You have experience building or supporting EOL/production test systems
- You’ve improved test throughput, yield, or system reliability in a measurable way
- You have experience with test automation (Python, C++, or similar)
- You’ve designed fixtures or hardware interfaces for production testing
- You think in terms of systems, scalability, and failure modes – not just test execution
- You’ve worked in a high-growth or startup environment
What We Offer
- Competitive salary
- ACS Equity Package
- Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- Paid Time Off
