Job description

Company Overview

Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting-edge defense startup founded by two former Navy electrical engineers with a proven track record in robotics and software. We are developing an autonomous gun turret using advanced computer vision and control systems to precisely detect, track, and neutralize enemy drones.

With an engineering-first culture, ACS values technical excellence and innovation. Backed by our founders’ successful exits from two previous ventures acquired for a combined $180M in 2022, we are committed to ensuring that the groundbreaking technologies we develop will have a real-world impact.

About The Role

We are looking for a Employee Experience Specialist to own the operational execution of how people experience ACS, from their first onsite interview through a successful onboarding. As a member of the People Operations team, you will partner closely with Talent Acquisition, Hiring Managers, IT, Workplace, Payroll, Benefits, and Security to deliver a seamless, high-quality experience at every step. Success in this role requires exceptional organization, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for building the processes and programs that scale with the company.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the end-to-end onsite interview experience including scheduling, candidate travel coordination, interview logistics, and day-of hosting; own the pre-boarding experience from offer acceptance through Day 1, coordinating cross-functional activities to ensure every new hire is set up for success.
  • Lead new hire orientation and drive continuous improvement of the onboarding experience through thoughtful programming, documentation, and process enhancements; build and maintain onboarding resources, playbooks, checklists, employee communications, and the new hire intranet site.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support recruiting operations including requisition reviews, job description alignment, title consistency, and ATS data integrity; partner with Hiring Managers to ensure they are equipped to deliver an exceptional first week experience for every new team member.
  • Identify opportunities to improve candidate and employee experiences through automation, documentation, and scalable operational processes; support additional People Operations initiatives that enhance the broader employee lifecycle.

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, Talent Acquisition Operations, Employee Experience, or Onboarding; experience coordinating onsite interviews, candidate travel, and complex scheduling.
  • Experience leading or coordinating onboarding and orientation programs; strong project management, organization, and prioritization skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working with an ATS and HRIS platform; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, service-oriented mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships, communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, and represent the People team with professionalism and sound judgment.

You’ll Stand Out

  • You are passionate about creating exceptional candidate and employee experiences and genuinely enjoy helping others succeed; you are proactive, resourceful, and follow through without being asked.
  • You enjoy creating structure and building scalable programs; you thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities shift quickly without letting detail slip.
  • Experience with Ashby or a comparable ATS; familiarity with Rippling or a similar HRIS platform.
  • Prior experience at a startup or high-growth company where you built programs and processes from scratch rather than inheriting them.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • ACS Equity Package
  • Health, Dental, Vision Insurance
  • Paid Time Off
