Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual counselling, psychotherapy support, and clinical monitoring within the scope defined by the Client.
- Develop and deliver group psychotherapy and therapeutic programming within the scope of practice and Client requirements.
- Conduct psychological and psychometric assessments, including administering, scoring, interpreting, and documenting assessment results.
- Utilize appropriate assessment tools and methodologies to evaluate cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and psychological functioning.
- Deliver crisis intervention and behaviour management services, including suicide risk assessments and safety planning.
- Implement and evaluate treatment programs and therapeutic interventions based on patient needs and established goals.
- Support therapeutic programming through individual and group treatment modalities.
- Provide crisis response support and assist in managing high-risk clinical situations.
- Identify, escalate, and report concerns related to patient safety, unethical conduct, or non-compliant practices.
- Perform duties consistent with the scope of a Clinical Psychometrist.
- Adapt communication skills to provide information, education, and health teaching to diverse patient populations.
- Support patients in implementing and modifying their treatment plans.
- Evaluate patient responses to treatment and modify interventions to achieve established clinical goals.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, assessment reports, treatment notes, and records in accordance with Client policies and applicable professional requirements.
- Record and report clinical activities in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- In consultation with the Client’s healthcare team, provide referrals to community specialists and additional services when indicated.
- Review consultation notes from community providers and integrate recommendations into patient care plans as appropriate.
- Support and utilize health technology initiatives implemented by the Client, including electronic medical records (EMR) and provincial electronic health records where available.
- Collaborate with the Client’s healthcare manager to provide advice and support strategic planning related to healthcare service delivery.
- Communicate in a timely manner with healthcare professionals regarding patient care and treatment progress.
- Attend required meetings and teleconferences related to healthcare service delivery, clinical updates, and healthcare policy implementation.
- Arrange for qualified Clinical Psychometrist coverage during planned absences.
- Maintain and monitor an email account for communication with Supply Ontario and the Client.
- Comply with all security requirements of the Client’s facility or facilities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Be in good standing and meet the qualification requirements to practice as a Clinical Psychometrist within the required scope of work.
- Demonstrate expertise and assessment skills to obtain, interpret, and utilize patient information to support clinical decision-making and treatment planning.
- Demonstrate leadership skills to coordinate and deliver Clinical Psychometrist services, support quality improvement initiatives, and collaborate with healthcare staff, partners, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Possess knowledge of professional practice standards, best practice guidelines, psychological assessment practices, and applicable legislation, including but not limited to the Health Care Consent Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), Ontario Hospitals Act, Child and Family Services Act (CFSA), Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), and other relevant legislation.
- Possess knowledge of illness and disease theory, health promotion, prevention strategies, evidence-based practice, and current mental health treatment modalities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of mental health and addiction treatment approaches, with experience supporting individuals experiencing addictions.
- Have experience working with individuals experiencing mental health concerns.
- Have experience supporting the specific needs of diverse client populations, including youth and adults.
- Have experience providing psychological assessment and mental health services to marginalized and diverse populations, including individuals who have experienced trauma.
