Adult Education ELL Teacher – Long-Term Substitute

The Adult Education English Language Learners ELL Teacher provides English language instruction. The teacher is responsible for planning and delivering effective instruction, assessing student progress, supporting workplace readiness and computer literacy skills, and helping students build the academic and communication skills needed for future success. This is a Casual/hourly position.

Essential Functions

• Plan and deliver English language instruction aligned to adult learner needs, lesson objectives, and individualized learning plans.
• Adapt instructional materials and classroom activities to support varied learning levels, language abilities, and student goals.
• Integrate workplace readiness and digital literacy.
• Administer language assessments and other required tests to evaluate student progress and instructional needs.
• Monitor, document, and communicate student progress, attendance, and performance.
• Model effective English communication to support students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing development.
• Provide academic support, encouragement, and appropriate referrals to help students address barriers to success.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive adult learning environment.
• Participate in meetings, professional learning, and program activities as required.
• Respond to student, staff, and administrative inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Follow program procedures, school policies, and reporting requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Experience

Job-related experience required; experience teaching English as a second language to adults preferred.

Education and Certification:

A Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field is required. Adult Education Certification or TESOL certification preferred.
