Your Opportunity:

Unit 32 is a 34 bed general medicine unit with a primary focus on Hospitalist patients, but also cares for a variety of patients from other populations such as, GI, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, General Internal Medicine, etc. As a Registered Nurse (RN) on this unit, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient and family-centered nursing care while working in a collaborative care nursing model. Unit 32 is a good fit for a RN who enjoys having a variety of complex medical patients, works well within an interdisciplinary team atmosphere, and enjoys a fast paced work environment. Our unit provides RNs with opportunities to advance their skillset in many areas such as complex wound care, managing central line access, developing effective patient care plans, navigating complex behaviors of patients, completing comprehensive assessment skills, and leadership skills within the team lead role. You will also have the opportunity to mentor new staff and teach students. On Unit 32 we pride ourselves with a welcoming atmosphere and supportive environment for all new and current staff. You will be required to lift, bend and push a variety of weights while maintaining safe body mechanics stipulated by AHS It’s Your Move patient handling program.

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Preferred Qualifications

At least 6 months experience as a bedside nurse working in acute care medicine in the last three years. Recent CH/NC experience. Experience working with CVADs & PCAs. Experience with sensory/cognitively impaired older adults. Experience with complex wound care (VAC dressing). Experience with CoACT. Discharge planning experience. Required Organizational Learning up to date. “See The Person” course an asset.
