The Opportunity

We are seeking an Associate General Counsel to help grow and scale our legal and compliance functions. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge legal issues at the intersection of technology and healthcare, directly impacting our ability to expand access to quality care for vulnerable populations. You will be a foundational member of a growing legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel, taking on a broad range of responsibilities and partnering with leadership to shape the future of Akido.

What you’ll do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including physician contracts, payor agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related questions from internal teams.
  • Oversee M&A activity and manage due diligence processes.
  • Develop and maintain compliance materials for operations in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage responses to audits and support compliance escalations.
  • Partner with the product team to conduct risk assessments for AI products and new service lines.
  • Manage corporate governance matters.
  • Provide counsel on HR and employment issues, including policy updates, performance management, and litigation.
  • Support credentialing, licensing, and immigration matters.

Who you are

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state (California preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience (in-house experience at a high-growth healthcare technology company preferred).
  • Expertise in healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback Statute).
  • Broad-based experience with commercial contracts, corporate governance, and employment law (preferred).
