Agilus is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Facilities in the Oil and Gas Sector in Fort McMurray, Alberta. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Facilities to join our engineering team in Fort McMurray. This role supports the safe, reliable operation of industrial facilities and occupied buildings, with a strong focus on HVAC and facility utility systems that protect people, equipment, and production.
You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Projects teams to provide practical, field-based engineering support across production facilities, control rooms, electrical rooms, laboratories, and other safety-critical spaces. Total rewards:$80.00 - $115.00 hourlyPay Rate between $80 to $95/hr for T4 and between $100 - $115/hr for ICContract until Dec 31, 2026Mon to Fri 40 hours per week, onsite in Fort McMurrayCaniddates willing to relocate to Fort McMurray can applyA typical day:Troubleshoot HVAC and facilities system issues, including airflow, temperature control, pressurization, and equipment reliabilitySupport day-to-day operational needs for assigned production units, responding to emergent facility issuesCollaborate with Operations and Maintenance to develop practical, executable engineering solutionsPrepare and review engineering work packages, drawings, specifications, and vendor documentationSupport Management of Change (MOC) activities related to HVAC, plumbing, and facilities modificationsParticipate in field walkdowns, condition assessments, and deficiency reviewsSupport commissioning, start-up, and handover of new or modified HVAC and facilities systemsProvide engineering input into maintenance strategies and asset lifecycle planningSuccessful candidates will have:10+ years of engineering experience, preferably in oil & gas and HVACProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation Strong background in HVAC and facility utility systems design, operation, and troubleshootingBachelor’s degree in Mechanical EngineeringComfortable working in an operating plant environment, including regular field-based workStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teamsFamiliarity with Alberta codes and standards related to HVAC, plumbing, and building systemsExperience supporting production-aligned engineering roles.
