Job Title: Forklift Operator
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume warehouse operation by safely operating stand-up forklifts, handling kegs and cases, and using RF scanners and warehouse management systems to accurately move, store, and ship product. You will work in a fast-paced environment, help maintain an organized stockroom, and support shipping and receiving activities in a climate-controlled brewery and warehouse setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist in unloading and loading new and used kegs when trucks arrive.
- Operate a stand-up forklift to move, stage, and store pallets of product, including in refrigerated areas.
- Use an RF scanner and warehouse management system (WMS/SAP) to locate, pick, and track inventory accurately.
- Receive bin numbers and locate the correct beer pallets in the refrigerated area and stockroom.
- Load and unload shipping trucks in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
- Prepare packages and pallets for shipping, including wrapping, labeling, and staging orders.
- Remain solution-oriented when locating and moving materials, resolving issues with product placement or inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse by performing housekeeping tasks during downtime.
- Follow all safety procedures and equipment guidelines while operating forklifts and handling heavy kegs and cases.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors to support daily production and shipping goals.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of warehouse experience.
- Previous stand-up forklift experience, or strong comfort with operating forklifts in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use an RF scanner for inventory tracking and order picking.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems such as WMS and SAP.
- Ability to lift cases up to 35 lbs and maneuver kegs up to 170 lbs safely and repeatedly.
- Basic computer skills for working with inventory and shipping systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a very fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when locating, picking, and moving product.
- Solution-oriented mindset to troubleshoot and resolve issues with material location and movement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in the food and beverage industry is preferred.
- Forklift experience is preferred; onsite certification will be provided.
- Experience working with SAP or similar enterprise systems is an advantage.
- Background in inventory control, loading, and unloading in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Comfort working in refrigerated areas as needed to retrieve product.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to support team goals.

Work Environment
The role is based in a brewery and warehouse setting in the Richmond, VA area, including a climate-controlled facility with regular trips into refrigerated areas to retrieve product and cases. You will work in a very fast-paced environment that requires consistent movement, forklift operation, and handling of kegs and cases. The position offers multiple shift options, including a second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a third shift from 11:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Work involves operating stand-up forklifts, using RF scanners, and working within systems such as WMS and SAP while maintaining a clean and organized warehouse.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sandston, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $21.00/hr.
