Position Summary
Aero Structures Long Island is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector – Final Inspection to perform final acceptance inspection of precision-machined aerospace components and assemblies. The successful candidate will verify that all products meet customer drawings, engineering requirements, specifications, and AS9100 quality standards prior to shipment.
This position requires strong blueprint interpretation, experience inspecting close-tolerance aerospace hardware, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining the highest level of product quality.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform final inspection of precision-machined aerospace components and assemblies.
- Verify product conformity using engineering drawings, CAD models (MBD), specifications, purchase order requirements, and customer flow-down requirements.
- Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Height Gages
- Indicators
- Pin Gages
- Thread Gages
- Bore Gages
- Review manufacturing travelers, inspection records, certifications, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Verify proper part marking, serialization, labeling, packaging, and customer-specific shipment requirements.
- Review First Article Inspection (AS9102) packages for completeness and accuracy.
- Identify and document nonconforming product in accordance with ASLI procedures.
- Ensure all inspection equipment used is within current calibration.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Program Management, and Quality personnel to resolve inspection issues.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and objective quality evidence.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all AS9100, customer, safety, and company procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of quality inspection experience within aerospace manufacturing.
- Experience performing final inspection of close-tolerance machined components and assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Engineering drawings
- GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- CAD models (MBD preferred)
- Customer specifications
- Purchase orders
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and dimensional inspection.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Work Authorization required. No sponsorship available.

Preferred Additional Skills
- AS9100 aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Experience with Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Sikorsky, Gulfstream, or other aerospace customer requirements.
- Experience reviewing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
- Experience with Net-Inspect.
- Experience with CMM reports and dimensional layouts.
- Familiarity with CATIA V5 models and Model-Based Definition (MBD).
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, special processes, and certification documentation.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $25.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
