Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, and effectively communicating the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
- Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
- Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
- Explain the specimen collection process clearly and courteously.
- Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Understand and interpret physicians' orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Ensure 100% accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
- Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.

Work Environment
The position is based in a Patient Service Center (PSC) and involves working in a fast-paced environment. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with every other Saturday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
