As an independent service provider, we avoid conflicts of interest and maintain a complete focus on our clients’ needs. We have taken a no-frills approach to developing our organization to ensure our clients are only paying for services that add value. ACT then leverages a world-class team, state of the art technology, and best-in-class operating practices to ensure every facility is operated in a manner that maximizes production, preserves compliance, and ensures the safety of our personnel and communities. Our vision is to reshape the industry’s benchmark for renewable operations and create the next generation of O&M provider.
The Director of Quality & Project Delivery is a senior hybrid leadership role that combines executive-level quality program ownership with active operational support for ACT’s Asset Optimization Team (AOT). This position is responsible for building and directing ACT’s QA/QC program, while simultaneously serving as a senior resource within the AOT to support large-scale project delivery. The role carries direct P&L accountability and requires a highly collaborative, customer-facing leader capable of building high-performing teams, resolving complex field issues, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
This role will lead the performance of QA/QC activities on customer projects during construction activities, ensuring all work meets contractual quality requirements and ACT’s standards from ground break through commissioning.
This position is approximately 50% reporting and 50% field-based, with up to 50% travel including out-of-state travel as necessary.
Duties/Responsibilities:
QA/QC Program Leadership
- Design, build, and implement ACT’s QA/QC program from the ground up, establishing standards, processes, inspection frameworks, and documentation protocols
- Define and enforce quality standards across all O&M and construction activities, ensuring conformance to contract requirements, client expectations, and regulatory standards
- Develop and maintain QA/QC manuals, inspection checklists, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all field and reporting functions
- Establish quality metrics, KPIs, and reporting cadences to drive continuous improvement across all business lines
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action processes for quality escapes, recurring deficiencies, and customer-reported issues
- Oversee quality audits and inspections at active project and O&M sites; review findings and drive closure of non-conformances
- Partner with operations, project management, and field teams to integrate QA/QC requirements into project planning and execution from day one
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop a high-performing QA/QC team including inspectors, field quality leads, and program support staff
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management to direct reports; set clear expectations and hold team members accountable to ACT’s standards
- Foster a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and accountability across all organizational levels
- Collaborate with operations and AOT leadership to identify staffing needs and build team capacity in alignment with project pipeline growth
AOT Project Support
- Serve as a senior resource within the Asset Optimization Team (AOT) to support the planning and execution of large, complex solar projects
- Assist AOT project managers in scoping, estimating, scheduling, and executing high-priority O&M and construction projects at utility-scale and commercial solar PV facilities
- Conduct site inspections and equipment assessments to inform project planning, repair strategies, and resource allocation
- Provide on-site quality oversight during critical project phases, ensuring all work meets ACT’s and clients’ quality standards
- Coordinate ACT internal teams, subcontractors, and labor resources to ensure timely, on-budget project delivery
- Support AOT closeout activities including final inspections, punch list resolution, and submission of client deliverables
P&L Accountability
- Own the P&L for the QA/QC function, including budgeting, cost control, headcount planning, and financial performance reporting
- Collaborate with project and operations leadership to ensure quality program costs are appropriately scoped, estimated, and recovered in project pricing
- Identify opportunities to optimize operational efficiency and reduce cost of quality across the organization
- Provide regular financial reporting and forecasting to leadership, with clear visibility into program spend vs. budget
Customer Facing & Contractor Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on all quality-related matters, including quality plan presentations, non-conformance reporting, and corrective action updates
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key clients by demonstrating proactive quality leadership and transparent communication
- Lead contractor and subcontractor quality alignment meetings; establish expectations, review submittals, and enforce compliance with ACT’s quality requirements
- Negotiate and resolve quality disputes with clients and contractors in a professional, solutions-oriented manner
- Escalate unresolved issues appropriately while keeping clients and internal leadership informed throughout the resolution process
- Prepare and deliver formal quality reports, lessons learned, and program updates for client and executive audiences
