Construction Director - Industrial

As a Construction Director in the Industrial team at Pomerleau, you will participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, scheduling, safety, quality, and performance. You will work on large scale Industrial projects ranging from $50 million to upwards of $1 billion. You will collaborate with internal departments and serve as the primary point of contact with the client for all project field activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation work meets project specifications and drawings, is conducted within schedule and authorized budgets, and is executed in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Provide overall technical and organizational direction for project construction activities.
• Participate and ensure that site meetings, contractor work progress, schedule reviews, and construction coordination occur.
• Maintain a daily project diary and attend meetings and constructability reviews.
• Monitor daily work and review contractors' work plans, activities, and resources.
• Supervise and direct field staff.
• Coordinate and supervise construction from conceptual development through final construction, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and technical regulations.
• Represent Pomerleau to assure all construction-related activities performed by the sub contractors meet design, schedule, accounting, and quality standards.
• Lead the construction team through construction, testing, and commissioning of the project.
• Assist with implementation and interpretation of safety programs.

Qualifications

• University degree in engineering/architecture or CEGEP DEC in engineering/architecture/construction technology, or equivalent trade certification with business, administrative, and management experience.
• PMP certification or equivalent in construction management.
• Construction Site Safety course & WHMIS (SIMDUT) certification.
• Over 10 years of related work experience in construction management and at least 5 years as a construction manager.
• Strong skills in management, communication, negotiation, and problem solving.
• Demonstrated initiative and leadership.
• Geographical mobility.
