The work
The Senior Cybersecurity Architect serves as a strategic and technical leader driving cybersecurity innovation, modernization, and operational excellence across a large federal enterprise. This role shapes and advances cybersecurity strategy while overseeing execution across Security Operations, Engineering, Application Security, Vulnerability Management, and emerging AI‑enabled capabilities. Success requires balancing long‑term strategic direction with hands‑on operational leadership, enabling secure adoption of new technologies, and cultivating high‑performing teams that safeguard critical federal systems at scale.
Key responsibilities:
- Cybersecurity Strategy & Architecture: Define and mature enterprise security architecture aligned with federal mandates, mission needs, and modernization priorities. Advise executives on threats, investments, cloud and hybrid security, AI governance, and technical standards.
- Security Operations Leadership: Improve SOC functions including detection engineering, incident response, threat hunting, and cyber intelligence. Strengthen visibility, detection, response workflows, and automation.
- Security Engineering & Modernization: Lead the adoption and optimization of security platforms across identity, endpoint, network, cloud, and data. Champion Zero Trust and automation.
- Application Security & SDLC: Build secure‑by‑design practices, integrate security into modern development pipelines, strengthen supply chain security, and drive scalable AppSec automation.
- Vulnerability Management: Oversee enterprise vulnerability strategy, integrating threat intelligence and business context for risk‑based prioritization. Advance automation and AI‑driven discovery, analysis, and remediation.
- AI Innovation & Cyber Transformation: Assess and guide responsible use of AI, ML, and agentic technologies to advance cyber defense, engineering productivity, and automation.
- Leadership & Workforce Development: Mentor cyber talent, build adaptable high‑performing teams, and foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Here’s what you need:
- 12+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience with leadership across multiple domains
- Deep expertise in SOC operations, incident response, detection, vulnerability management, engineering, and AppSec
- Experience implementing enterprise‑scale security programs and platforms
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate executive priorities into action
- Experience working in federal or regulated environments
Nice to have:
- Experience supporting federal agencies
- Knowledge of NIST frameworks, RMF, Zero Trust architectures
- Cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with AI‑enabled security, SOAR, automation, analytics
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, GIAC, SABSA, or TOGAF
Eligibility requirements:
- US Citizen (no dual citizenship)
- Must be eligible to obtain a government security clearance
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
As required by local law, Accenture Federal Services provides reasonable ranges of compensation for hired roles based on labor costs in the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland. The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below.
