- Research, develop, and pitch story ideas while assessing newsworthiness for target audiences;
- Gather and write content, including researching background, interviewing sources, and preparing story outlines;
- Assist in producing full story packages for multi-platform use, including visuals and supporting elements;
- Monitor national and local news to stay current on emerging issues and relevant events;
- Develop and maintain sources and contacts to support ongoing news gathering.
Your accomplishments and experience include:
- Grade 12 education / GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of Internet, software, E-mail and television broadcast technology is required;
- Demonstrated experience using a variety of different methods for research;
- Demonstrated confidence and ability to initiate calls, interviews, contacts, etc.;
- Ability to articulate and effectively communicate issues relevant to Indigenous communities;
